Grace Foods’ Jamaican Jerk Festival 2011 – 480p

This is an example of a 480p video. Make sure 480 is selected, not 360. You may need to let the video buffer if it starts and stops. Just click the play arrow, then pause it for a few seconds.

480p is the first level of HD, so you can watch it full screen without it getting grainy. It plays on Smartphones and Tablets, as well as the internet.

Most people never adjust the resolution of the their digital camera. It is good to reduce the image resolution to save on the file size, so you can get more images on the SD card. Remember, the higher the resolution the bigger the file size. The bigger the file size the fewer the few images on a memory card.

If you plan to print the images – 8 x 10 or larger, then stay with high resolution. But if you are placing them on a website or blog, or using in a video, 1280 pixels by 960 pixels is the optimum resolution. Remember, most people watch on a monitor with 72 dots per inch.

There are two videos with the same pictures from the Grace Foods’ Jamaican Jerk Festival 2011 on this site. The first one is 360p, which is good. This one is 480p, which is better.

But watch both, and you will see a difference.

If you attended the festival and have pictures, send them to Eddy – irieed (at) bellsouth (dot) net. We’d like to do another video using pictures submitted by people who were there – day or night. If we use your photo(s), we will give you photo credit.

This is a social media experiment, so pictures from a phone or digital camera are welcome. If you have them on Facebook, or Flickr, let us know.
