KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican entertainer Shaggy has been cast in Disney/ABC’s Live production of the classic animated movie, The Little Mermaid.

The production, titled ‘The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live’ will air on November 5 when the cartoon celebrates its 30th anniversary. The production will feature a mix of live-action, animation, puppetry and of course, music.

Shaggy will voice the character of Sebastian the crab, and will also perform one of the most popular songs from the movie, “Under the Sea”.

The Grammy-award winning reggae musician is just one of the talented stars to be cast for the production. Musician and Actress Queen Latifa will play Ursula, while Moana star Auli’i Cravalho will voice the main character, Ariel.

Just last month, Disney announced that it is gearing up for the production of a live-action remake of the film, which will star young musician Halle Bailey. Many Caribbean fans called on Disney to cast a Caribbean actor to voice the part of Sebastian, even petitioning for popular Jamaican Comedian and Actor Oliver Samuels to get the role.

The character of Sebastian will be Shaggy’s third overall movie role and his first animated role.
