BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commissioner Hazelle P. Rogers recently sat down with Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for an in-depth, one-on-one discussion lasting more than an hour, focusing on issues affecting Broward County residents and the wider Caribbean and immigrant communities.
Commissioner Rogers described the meeting as “quality, result-oriented time,” with discussions covering healthcare, affordable housing, immigration reform, and the economy. The two also explored how rising economic pressures are affecting Caribbean-American families, particularly their ability to continue sending remittances to relatives in the Caribbean.
The conversation provided an opportunity to bring local concerns and the experiences of immigrant communities into the broader federal policy discussion, highlighting issues that directly affect families and communities across South Florida.
The meeting also comes at a significant time as Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz seeks re-election to represent Florida’s 20th Congressional District in the November elections.
Both leaders committed to working together to improve the allocation of party resources in central Broward, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and continued engagement on issues affecting the community.
