Lauderhill, Florida – July 23, 2024 – Big Rigg Productions, Inc., in association with the City of Lauderhill, is excited to announce the third annual Jamaican Independence celebration, “Sweet Jamaica,” on Sunday, August 4, from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) Parking Lot. This vibrant festival offers a day of food, music, and family-friendly fun, celebrating the 62nd anniversary of Jamaica’s independence.
The festival features a variety of authentic Jamaican cuisine and beverages, cultural experiences, a kids’ zone, and live entertainment from local DJs, performers, and recording artists from Jamaica. Highlights include a performance by the legendary Jamaican band FAB 5.
In addition to Fab 5, attendees can enjoy a diverse lineup of Jamaican, Caribbean, and local musical acts, from the lively Moko Jumbies to a traditional Jamaican street dance featuring Stone Love and DJ King Waggy T. Performers will also include, Leroy Sibbles, T-Dogg, Sailor Jane, and Empress Uneek. The festival promises an afternoon of captivating rhythms, engaging performances, delicious island-style foods and beverages, art and crafts, children’s books, games, face painting and a street motorcade.
The City of Lauderhill and Big Rigg Productions will honor three community leaders for their exceptional service: Consul General to Jamaica Oliver Mair, Marketing Executive Eddy Edwards, and Colonel Andrew Dunbar of the Broward Sheriff Department.
