Plantation, FL – The Shak’s Hope Foundation will be staging its fundraising gala on June 17th, 2023, at the Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, Florida. The event is aimed at raising awareness of sickle cell disease, in commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day, which is recognized every year on June 19.

The Shak’s Hope Foundation’s primary mission is to raise awareness about sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder affecting millions of people worldwide. The foundation is committed to providing education and resources to the community and advocating for research and treatments to improve the lives of those living with the disease.

The fundraising gala is the foundation’s biggest event of the year, and organizers are expecting a great turnout. Attendees will be treated to a delicious dinner, live entertainment by DJ Radcliffe, and a silent auction with a variety of items and experiences up for bid. All proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the foundation’s mission of raising awareness about sickle cell disease, including repairs of vital medical devices to the patients they support.

The Foundation’s founder, Shakira Martin former Miss Jamaica Universe 2011, lost her battle to Sickle Cell in 2016, and in continuation of her legacy, Shak’s Hope Foundation hosts an annual Easter treat for the past 6 years in Jamaica. The Foundation encourages everyone to know their Sickle Cell status. Our hope is that through education and awareness, we can improve the lives of those affected by this disease.
