Publix Jerk Cook Off 1:00p to 8:00p

Foodies favorite festival feature, the Publix Culinary Pavilion is where cooking chops are tested in fierce competitions and top chefs offer exciting cooking demos.  Get cooking tips and sample the culinary creations of these first-class cooking masters. The Celebrity Quickfire Contest is always fun and this year we will pay homage to our late friend and three-time Celebrity Quickfire Champion Todd Tongen of Local 10, by naming the trophy in his honor.

Hosted by Chef Irie, who is joined by his buddies such as Chef Troy, who cooks only vegan dishes, and Dominican Chef Danny  Penalo Dominguez bringing the Hispanic vibe to the table.  Some folks stop here and never leave!  A dem love dem belly.

We Jammin’ 3:30p to 10:00p

If music is your thing, then we’ve got lots of it. Ten-time Grammy nominee, the legendary Third World, celebrating 45 years in the music industry will have you dancing to a mix of funk, pop, rock, R&B, rap, and dancehall reggae.  With a new album out, “More Work to be Done” expect some of the new stuff along with their classic hits.

Ladies, you’ve got to be up front and center to see Christopher Martin. Yes, he’s sexy and hotter than a scotch bonnet pepper and such a “Big Deal” with a string of hits more than a mile long. But wait, there is more! Also performing will be roots artist Bugle who is breaking out for 2019, plus homegrown talent, Honorebel. Lone female on the bill is sassy Jaz Elise (watch out, you saw her here first) and bringing the party flavor with a mix of dancehall anthems and classic hits are Renaissance DJs, Jazzy T, Delano.  Adding more heat to the entertainment fire will be DJ Wizzard and TC Flexx; somebody help me now.

They don’t call it the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival fi nutten. Grace Foods is big and broad, bringing you the best from yard. Serving up samples of just about everything they have, Tropical Rhythms juices, Coconut water, jerk wings, patties and more.  Try your luck at any of the many games to win prizes or enter the Patty Eating Contest or the Jerk Wing Dance Contest, the winner walks away with $500.

Shopping is a pleasure at Publix, and you will be pleased when you stop by the Publix displays in the Grace Village. Your favorite supermarket is at it again, offering recipe books and gift cards along with fun activities and tips on how to make your own jerk festival vibe at home with family and friends.

Spin the Wheel and try your luck at the Western Union booth. Yes, the activity never stops and the winning is easy. Just as sending money is so much easier with Western Union. Room to run and roam, the little ones will have the time of their lives as while connecting with their culture. The energizer bunny will have a hard time keeping up.
