Marsha Edwards is reaching out to the community for help in providing a better life for her 4-year-old son, Preston, who is bravely fighting against Cerebral Palsy and Biliary Atresia. Preston’s journey has been marked by resilience and determination, but his family needs assistance to explore a promising treatment option: stem cell therapy.

Preston’s medical challenges began shortly after his premature birth at 33 weeks when he was diagnosed with biliary atresia. At just one week old, Preston underwent a grueling 8-hour surgery to address his condition. Despite the ordeal, Preston’s health remained precarious, and he spent an additional month and a half in the hospital.

Marsha vividly recalls the emotional turmoil of seeing her newborn son endure such hardships. “He looked like someone abused him and left him to die,” she says, reflecting on those difficult days. As Preston grew, it became apparent that his development was not progressing as expected. At 7 months old, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, prompting Marsha to initiate a rigorous therapy regimen to support his growth and mobility.

Despite consistent therapy sessions and unwavering dedication, Preston still faces significant challenges. He cannot walk, talk, or sit independently for extended periods. Basic tasks like feeding himself and chewing food remain beyond his reach. However, Marsha remains steadfast in her belief in Preston’s potential and is exploring alternative treatments to enhance his quality of life.

Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising option for Preston, offering the possibility of significant improvement. While Marsha acknowledges that every child’s journey is unique, she is determined to explore all avenues that could benefit Preston. With the support of the community, Marsha hopes to raise the necessary funds to pursue stem cell therapy and give Preston the best chance at a brighter future.

Marsha recently appeared on Caribbean Riddims radio show and spoke with Eddy Edwards about Prestion’s progress and shared how members of the community can assist. LISTEN HERE
