The City of Miramar will come alive to the sounds of the drums, percussion, and music from the highly anticipated show “Rhythms of Africa- Music Around the World 2023”. The show, now in its 10th season is led by former lead percussionist and co-director of the world-acclaimed Third World Band, Mr. Willie Stewart.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 6 pm and Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 7 pm at Miramar Cultural Center, 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, FL 33025 and will feature a special guest appearance by 2-time Grammy nominee Julian Marley along with other award-winning artists, musicians and dancers and the Everglades High School students.

The event will take patrons on a musical journey using drums and dance to experience the influences of Pan African/Caribbean rhythms of Reggae, Blues, Soca, Samba, Ska, Dance Hall, Calypso, Latin, New Orleans Jazz, Funk, R&B, Pop, Afro-Beats, and more.

This show engages Miramar students from Everglades High School to connect to their culture through music, the show also captures the universality of music and the diversity within Miramar. This program is presented by Embrace Music Foundation in partnership with the City of Miramar.  Embrace Music Foundation is a Broward-based non-profit corporation with a mission to restore, preserve, and fortify the impact of music — education, appreciation, and performance — in schools and communities and to amplify its role in the development of children and families.
